ARTICLE: Creating Custom Gating Labels

In addition to the system Gating restrictions, it is possible to create custom Gating labels for use as visual indicators in Kiosk View for when a student has been placed on a certain level of discipline.  Please note that custom Gating labels will not restrict actions in Reach, such as preventing an action from occurring in the system and are meant to serve as a way of tracking and communicating student restrictions for continuity of duty of care among your staff.

Gaiting and using Custom Gating Labels:

System Configurations > Restrictions & Gating and Add Gating Type to create a custom Gating type.

Set the Custom Gating label, icon and color then Save Changes.

Save Changes to save the new configurations.

After applying the Gating to the student, you will see the associated icon in Kiosk view and you can hover your cursor over the icon to see what the restriction is in addition to hovering your cursor over the lock icon in their student sidebar.

Note that if you have 2 or more custom gatings applied to a student or a custom gating and standard gating category, then the generic Lock icon will appear over the student's photo in the Kiosk in place of any custom icons.
