ARTICLE: How to Fix Unknown Location

When a student has "Unknown Location" listed as their current location in Reach, it could be related to one of two reasons:
  1. The students was just created and added into Reach manually through People Management.
  2. The students was just created and added into Reach manually through an SIS Sync.

There are a few ways you can update a student or multiple students' locations if they're currently appearing as Unknown for their location.

People Management > View Contacts

Open an individual student's profile in People Management and in the Metadata tab select a Location for the student then Save and Close.

To update multiple students' locations in People Management, select the students using the selector box to the left of their name and select Bulk Update Contacts.  Select a Location from the drop down and then select Apply Changes Now to save.

Metrics View and Kiosk View

From Metrics View, you can select Unknown Location from the location key and it will display the student(s) who are currently not associated with any location in Reach.

Selecting a student's name from the Metrics View will then open up that student's Sidebar.  Clicking on the Current Location will open up that student's Kiosk SISO screen and you can select a location to update the student's current location in the system.

Within Kiosk View, either select the individual student, which will open their Kiosk SISO where their individual location can be updated, or use the Multi Select Toggle to select more than one student to update their location.  Once in Multi Select Mode, select each student in an Unknown location (they will then be highlighted in green to indicate they're selected) and then select Bulk Actions drop down and choose the location to update the students' location to in the system.
