Info
If you have a complex frequency pattern that you need to implement for a patient and cannot determine how to establish the pattern successfully with the frequency pattern creators available, then please contact Reach support and we can assist to set up the required pattern.

Notes
Expiry dates are compulsory for frequency patterns
When setting frequency patterns Reach needs to schedule the patterns into a calendar format and to do so we need a start and an end date so we can build and schedule the patten over a designated time period. It is compulsory to set an expiry date when setting a pattern.  If the medication is likely to be perpetual for the student then we suggest setting the expected graduation date of the student as the expiry date.

Simple Patterns

The simple pattern creator allows you to create basic recurring patterns such as;

  • Recurring skip frequencies (eg: medicate every second day), and

  • Designated days of the week (eg: medicate every Mon-Wed-Fri)

These are the most common recurring patterns that we see created in Reach and examples of these patterns are demonstrated below.

How to set a Recurring Skip pattern (eg: medicate every 2nd day)

  1. Select Simple Pattern creator.

  2. Set your start date.

  3. Set the time of day for the medication. If multiple times per day are required then you can select multiple times in this selector.

  4. Set the DAY pattern setting.

  5. Set the repeating schedule (eg: every 2 days).

  6. Set the expiry date for this frequency schedule or the number of occurrences for the pattern.

  7. Show the scheduled pattern in a calendar view to review the setting is accurate to what you need.

  8. Set the Expiration Date for the medication. Not that you must set the expiration for the frequency schedule and also for the medication itself.

How to set a Designated Days of Week pattern (eg: medicate every Mon-Wed-Fri)

  1. Select Simple Pattern creator

  2. Set your start date

  3. Set the time of day for the medication

  4. Set the WEEK pattern setting

  5. Set the repeating schedule (eg: every week, every second week)

  6. Set the Days of the week

  7. Set the expiry date for this medication or the number of occurrences for the pattern.

  8. Show the scheduled pattern in a calendar view to review the setting is accurate to what you need.

  9. Set the Expiration Date for the medication. Not that you must set the expiration for the frequency schedule and also for the medication itself.

Custom Patterns

Custom Patterns can be used whenever you have a complex frequency schedule for a medication that does not follow any particular pattern.

With Custom Patterns you simple select from a calendar view the date and time that you want to schedule a medication dosage for. You can build the frequency schedule out over whatever date range you need to and you can schedule multiple dosage per day if required.

Custom patterns are not recurring. Medications are scheduled only for the days and times that are selected in the Custom pattern calendar.

How to set a Custom Pattern

  1. Select the Custom Pattern frequency selector

  2. Select the day that you want to medicate

  3. Set the time that you want to medicate in that day

  4. When done with select the close pattern selector view

  5. Check that the number of Items Scheduled matches your intended pattern.

Day Range Patterns

Day Patterns allow you to create flexible recurring schedules over any day range. The pattern designer allows for some complex patterns to be created, provided the pattern can be represented in a recurring profile over any day range.

How to set a Day Range Pattern

  1. Select the Day Pattern frequency selector

  2. Set the Start Date for the medication pattern

  3. Set the End Date for the medication pattern

  4. Set the Pattern Length. This is the number of days that the pattern runs for before it recycles and runs again.

  5. Select a day that you want to schedule a medication for in the pattern table

  6. Set the time of day for the medication

  7. Set the Day & Time selected into the Day Pattern schedule. Repeat this for each active day and time that you want to set for the Day Pattern schedule.

  8. Save the Day Pattern

  9. Check that the saved record is for an accurate Day Pattern range

  10. Show Pattern Dates in the Pattern Visualiser to check that you pattern is set as you expect it to be.

Week of Month Patttern

Week of Month patterns are the legacy frequency pattern planner in Reach. Any frequency pattern that was created in Reach prior to 25 November 2024 will remain in this pattern unless it is adjusted by the user in Reach.

Week of Month patterns will set a custom pattern based on a recurring monthly reset. This means that at the beginning of each new calendar month the frequency pattern will revert back to Week 1 of the Week of Month pattern schedule.

How to set a Week of Month Pattern

  1. Select the Week of Month pattern frequency selector.

  2. Set the number of weeks in the month that you want the pattern to cover.

  3. Select the medication times in the calendar view for each week of the month cycle.

  4. Set the Frequency pattern to save.
