ARTICLE: How to manually Pause Scheduled Medications

There may be instances where a student with a scheduled medication may be away from school or need to stop taking the medication for a duration of time.  To avoid receiving any scheduled reminders regarding that student's medication schedule or inaccurately recording those instances as missed doses, you can manually pause the medication until a set date.

Medications can also be paused automatically when a student goes on leave
There is also a capability in Reach to automatically pause medications when a student signs out to an approved leave event. 
This is set up in the Leave Type configuration and is outlined in this ARTICLE: How to Auto-Pause Scheduled Medications when a student goes on approved leave.

How to manually Pause a Scheduled Medication

  1. Open the Dispensary from the top menu bar in your Reach portal. 
  2. Select the the check box for the student for who you are needing to pause their medication schedule.
  3. Select Bulk Actions and select Pause Selected.
  4. In the pop-up window, select the date for which the medication will be paused until, and then select Pause.


  1. A paused medication will display the Pause icon in the notifications column.  



How to manually Unpause a Scheduled Medication

  1. When the student is ready to resume taking their medication, click the student's Pause icon.
  2. A message will appear indicating this medication is currently paused and ask if you'd like to unpause it now.  Select Yes to unpause the medication.
