How to Set-up your SMS Account with Mission Mobile (NA Schools)

To send SMS messages through your Reach portal, North American schools will need to set up and maintain an SMS messaging account with our 3rd-Party provider, Mission Mobile.  SMS Messages subscription packages are managed directly with Mission Mobile and your Mission Mobile SMS account will connect to your Reach portal to deliver SMS messages to your recipients.

North American Schools wishing to open Mission Mobile accounts for SMS messaging should contact Reach Support at support@reach.cloud to begin that process.

Step One

Log in with the Login Details that will have been provided by Mission Mobile.

Step Two

Navigate to the Account Information tab and under Settings & Security copy the Account ID.  Within Reach's System Configuration > Communication, this is the API key for configuration item 1513 Mission Mobile SMS API Key.

Step Three

Navigate to Messaging > Mobile Campaigns. There should be a datatable of Mobile Campaigns with one campaign for your school. Copy the Keyword and Messaging Code. In Reach, Navigate to System Configurations > Communications; insert the Campaign Keyword for configuration item 1521 Mission Mobile Keyword, and insert the Messaging Code for configuration item 1522 Mission Mobile Shortcode.

Step Four

Save the new Communication configurations in Reach, close and reopen the System Configuration > Communications tab and check the current Account Status under Config Item 1513 Mission Mobile SMS API Key. If it says "Current Account Status: Account Active", then the connection with Mission Mobile API to your Reach portal has been successfully completed.  We recommend sending an SMS to verify, but please do not include the word “Test” in the SMS as the phone carrier may block the message mistaking it for Spam.

IMPORTANT!! An SMS message is 160 characters long and each SMS is charged separately.  This includes spaces.  Messages of 161 characters long will be transmitted as text-only MMS messages. The MMS messages max at 500 characters and we only send a limit of 2 MMS messages, up to 1000 characters.  Any message greater than 1000 characters will be cut at that point.

Spaces count for one character and line breaks count for two characters.
