When Reach creates a portal for your school we will allocate a generic URL for access to the portal on the internet. https://schoolname.reachboarding.com for example.

It is possible for your Reach portal to operate on a custom URL that better aligns it with your school’s own branding.

How to set a custom URL for your Reach Portal

The procedure to set your own custom URL for your Reach portal is the following;

1. Create the subdomain that you want to use for your Reach portal
   Examples are;

   • boarding.schoolname.edu.au

   • reach.schoolname.edu.au

   • boarding.schoolname.school.nz
     
     

2. Once your domain name is created then advise Reach of the custom domain name that you intend to use. Send details of your Custom URL name to support@reach.cloud
   
   

3. Reach will then align that domain name with the cloud server for your Reach instance and provide you with a TXT entry that needs to be added to your DNS settings. This will ensure that your custom domain points to the Reach server that is hosting your data so that the URL resolves to display your Reach portal.
   
   

4. Install the TXT entry into your DNS settings and inform Reach when you have applied the DNS entry.

   
   

   Use Double Quotes in your DNS setting
   When installing the TXT data into your DNS Settings and install the entire TXT entry that Reach provides to you in double quotes. (Consult your DNS provider for their requirements on TXT records.)
